The client delivers full-screen, broadcast-quality video streamed over the Internet in
corporate and entertainment environments. Content is given the greatest possible reach as
platform agnostic technology means the end-user does not need to download a media
player to play the clip.
The business has recently been listed on AIM, received investment and is now poised for a period of growth in the US and in Europe. A Global Product Director is now needed to identify opportunities to build business, commercialise the focus of the R&D effort and develop new products and services aligned with a better understood market need.. This new position will sit on the operating board and report to the CEO. Candidates must be comfortable with managing in a hands-on, entrepreneurial environment which will grow considerably during the next few years.
Responsibilities:
Take responsibility for the development of the product portfolio on a global basis ensuring smooth development of products throughout their lifecycles, from concept to launch, post-implementation support and service, maturity and withdrawal.
Research the market thoroughly, size emerging opportunities and prepare clear business cases for all viable options.
Work closely with Group R&D and help design new products and services, including detailed specifications of terms and conditions.
Help focus the company?s technical efforts towards the most relevant market opportunities.
Help ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
Ensure effective collateral and deployment documentation is in place.
Ensure a robust pricing model is in place.
Project manage the launch process for all new products and services within the portfolio, liaising with the Group Marketing Manager, to ensure that support materials, advertising and all necessary publicity activities are in place.
Ensure that all areas of the business are well prepared for new product launches and on-going support for all products and services in the portfolio.
Provide full briefings (internally and externally), regarding all new products and changes to existing.
Provide everyone in the organisation with a general awareness of the products and services available within the portfolio.
Define SLAs and get commitment to meet them from all departments.
Provide inputs and reports as necessary for the operating board meetings and assist in strategic decision making.
Nature & Scope:
A global role with full responsibility for the product portfolio.
Liaison, working with, drawing on, gaining commitment from and supporting other departments are key facets to the role.
Strong project / matrix management skills will be required.
Measurement:
Launch of planned products and services to market on time
Effective reporting on product progress.
Other objectives will be agreed from time to time with the CEO.
Candidate
Degree calibre in a business, technical or marketing discipline
Specification:
Proven track record in a similar role with an on-line media background is essential.
May have experience of working with in this sector.
Possessing true cradle to grave product management experience.
Possessing strong product management experience.
International experience, particularly of working in / with the US would be an advantage
Possessing good written, verbal, presentation skills.
Possessing strong interpersonal skills, particularly in influencing and motivating others, and team working skills.
Experience of working in a rapid growth and changeable environment.
