Our client?s parent company was founded in 1876 and is now Ireland?s largest grocery retailer. They are currently seeking to increase the number of Trading Managers within their Trading function and accordingly seek applications from Trading Managers who have either a Food or Non- Food background.

Reporting into a Category Manager, the Trading Manager will be responsible for all aspects of a range of products.

The role will also be heavily involved with retailers at store level to develop the overall
category and individual sectors in store.

The responsibilities of the role are optimising the contribution of the assigned product range to the profitability and market share position of the company and the company?s customers.

This will be achieved through the development of appropriate commercial strategies and by working closely with a cross functional team responsible for building supplier and customer partnerships which enable effective sourcing and supply of products of the requisite quality, at optimum prices and in a timely manner and which exceed customers? and consumers? expectations.

Knowledge and Skills:

Prospective candidates should have a degree level qualification, and be an accomplished Trading Manager in a retail multiple or fmcg supplier environment.

Computer literacy is required, coupled with data manipulation interpretation skills. Candidates should be familiar with EPOS and other market tools. The successful candidate will need to display creativity and imagination, as well as appreciation of Irish and International retail grocery markets.

Candidates should possess excellent oral and written communication skills and have proven negotiation and analytical skills, preferably gained at retail level.
