Our client?s parent company was founded in 1876 and is now Ireland?s largest grocery retailer. They are currently seeking a Category Manager for their Frozen, Chilled and Dairy product ranges.

Reporting into the Trading Director, the Category Manager will lead, manage and motivate a professional team of 3 Trading Managers, Product Development Specialist, Merchandising Manager, Financial Analyst, Assistant Trading Manager and 3 Trading Manager Assistants.

The successful candidate will be responsible for optimising the contribution of the assigned product category to the profitability and market share position of the company and the company?s customers. This will be achieved through the development of appropriate commercial strategies and by leading and developing a cross functional team responsible for building supplier and customer partnerships which enable effective sourcing and supply of products of the requisite quality, at optimum prices and in a timely manner and which exceed customers? and consumers? expectations.

Knowledge and Skills:

Prospective candidates should have a degree level qualification, and be an accomplished Category Manager in managing frozen and or chilled products in a retail multiple or in an fmcg supplier environment.

Computer literacy is required, coupled with data manipulation interpretation skills. Candidates should be familiar with EPOS and other market tools. The successful candidate will need to display creativity and imagination, as well as appreciation of Irish and International retail grocery markets.

Knowledge of Retail and HR best practices are essential to make an immediate impact on the strategic direction of the business.
