Media Relations Manager
£34,500 - £36,000
Location: London
Our Client is looking for people who are confident to develop messages and briefings for the latest complex issue and be able to explain this to national journalists and to brief the Chair and Chief Executive for their morning television appearances. Our client is looking for people who can remain focussed on what matters to their patients - while being able to explain the latest developments in medical research.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1 Develop communications processes to form part of an efficient and effective communications strategy
2 Implement and maintain the Authoritys communications strategy
3 Proactively promote the Authoritys role and present policies and decisions to the media
4 Develop, recommend and implement strategies to handle individual campaigns and media enquiries.
5 Monitor, evaluate and develop the Authoritys public and media profile
6 Manage the other press officer(s) in their day-to-day work, devising strategies for individual issues as appropriate, to ensure that consistent and appropriate messages are coming out from the press office team.
7 Develop and maintain positive and appropriate relationships between the Authority and the media
8 Ensure effective briefing to the press and media and to other external enquiries
9 Ensure effective 24 hour press office function and participate in the on-call rota.
10 Project manage cross communication activities, such as communications input to major policy projects.
11 Take responsibility for the internal communications of press strategies, particularly ensuring that staff in external-facing roles are aware of press activity.
12 Take responsibility for the communications input to the internal briefing process
13 Assist in the broader communications activities of our client as required. This may include working on the production, promotion and marketing of Authority material (both printed and online), stakeholder relations, events and reviewing the effectiveness of each publication.

Experience:
 Good experience of press office working dealing with high profile issues
 An experienced Communications professional able to communicate our clients decisions and policies to the media
 Computer literacy including understanding of databases
 Experience of public sector work
 Experience of the interaction between various players in regulated business sectors
 Experience of other areas of communications work such as stakeholder relations and events

Qualifications:
Degree level or equivalent, preferably in PR, marketing, media or journalism qualification
