Our Client is a multi- national food logistics and facilities provider. They are currently seeking an accomplished Pest Control and Vector Control Manager to manage their pest and vector control operations in Afghanistan.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the complete running and managing of our clients Afghanistan vector control team to ensure the cost effective and efficient functioning. Assets and Vector Control equipment as required by the company operation. They will also ensure the perpetual availability and reliability of all fixed plant / equipment and company assets and will operate the Vector Control maintenance function in line with company and contract objectives whilst maintaining a first class service to customers.
Specifically the Pest Control and Vector Control Manager will report directly to the Camp Services Manager any issues, suggestions/problems or recommendations and will liaise with other business units and have regular meetings to ensure all Vector Control issues are/have been addressed.
They will plan the monthly vector control schedule and will plan staffing rota?s for all sites.
In addition they will train vector control staff in the correct use and application to enable a cost effect spraying or dust chemical solutions, powders or gases. They will set mechanical traps and place poisonous bait in traps, burrows and ditches.
The job holder will travel to outpost locations to ensure the vector control team is working efficiently and they will assist all outlets/locations and business units with a comprehensive plan in the treatment and extermination processes to eliminate and control rodents and insects.
They will study preliminary reports and diagrams of infested area and determine treatment type required to eliminate and prevent recurrence of infestation and will direct other workers in treatment and extermination processes to eliminate and control rodents, insects, and weeds.

Knowledge and Skills:
You should be an accomplished Pest Control / Vector Control Manager ideally with some experience gained in post conflict or other remote and arduous environments.
You should have detailed knowledge of the uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, and disposal methods and knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
You should be a competent risk assessor with previous employment gained in logistics, food manufacturing, warehousing or camp/site/facility management.
You will have proven managerial skills, and the ability to organize and run a team of Vector Control officers supported by the ability to train other members if staff.
Your experience should ideally be supported by some qualification in pest management.
You should also be food safety/ HACCP qualified and have a formal Health & Safety qualified (NEBOSH) and be COSHH qualified
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Pest Control / Vector Manager looking for something different. Whilst our Clients operation is somewhat unique they are in it for the long term and are looking for a minimum of 18 to 24 months commitment.
The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is a bonus payable after 12 months service which is paid annually and is also paid in US Dollars and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.
Accommodation, laundry, local transport, health insurance and meals are provided free. In addition employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also the internet for e-mails etc.
Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 63 days annual leave per year and the working rota is broadly 14 weeks on, 3.5 weeks off
Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 3 paid return economy flights per year and Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
