Our Client is a leading global engineering, construction and facilities management services company supporting the energy, petrochemicals, government services and civil infrastructure sectors. The company is a leader in many of the growing end-markets it serves.
Its UK Division is now planning to expand its operations overseas into the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where it intends to supply a full range of facilities management services : catering, security, janitorial and cleaning, maintenance etc to the growing business community commencing operations in Dubai.
A Project Director has recently been appointed to lead this new venture and a Commercial Manager is now urgently sought to work alongside the Project Director, a Business Development Manager and a Senior Operations Manager to form the senior leadership team of this new division.
The Role:
The Commercial Manager will report into the Project Director and will be responsible for the financial success of the FM service contracts won and executed, the quality and accuracy of the commercial aspects of bid documentation and the effectiveness of the supply chain in supporting service delivery to the clients.
Key Responsibilities will be:
§ Under broad direction, responsible for evaluating and managing commercial risks as part of our client?s commercial offer.
§ Plans, organizes, and manages supply chain relationships and contract documents to improve the commercial/contract management process for pursuits
§ Provides direction to the Facilities Management Team working in the UAE on contract and commercial issues.
§ Major areas of emphasis will include:
o coordination and structuring the commercial offer to reflect the commercial solution for pursuits within the region
o pricing service offerings developed by the Facilities Management Team during bid acquisitions and pursuit
o ensuring that project execution aligns with the commercial strategy
o selection, monitoring and evaluation of sub contractors
o development of service level agreements with sub contractors
The job role directly impacts on our client?s region?s financial viability.
Knowledge and Skills:
You will ideally be currently employed at a middle or senior management level of responsibility within an established facilities management group.
You will have a thorough understanding of the resources, methods and processes required to deliver a wide range of Facilities Management Services and must have the ability to assess and select suppliers and subcontractors in the UAE; develop Service Level Agreements and Performance Criteria.
Your commercial experience should ideally be supported by some professional qualification ideally a Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or in Building Services. Some experience of quantity surveying would be useful.
Ideally you should have had experience of working in the Gulf States : preferably UAE.
Excellent analytical, organisation and communication skills coupled with influencing skills and teamwork, will already have ensured your success as a Commercial Manager.
Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential supported by high personal energy levels and enthusiasm and you must have sufficient gravitas to build confidence with the client and fellow team members.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be IT / PC literate in MS Office.
