Our Client is a multi- national food logistics and facilities provider. Founded in 1957 its headquarters are in Europe and are renowned as a market leader and an innovative distributor of wholesale food products and food logistics concepts. They are experts in the handling of customs procedures, cross border transactions and dealing with local cultures, languages and bureaucracy.
They distribute food products across all temperature spans including fresh produce and also deliver soft drinks and bottled water. They have sites in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Near Asia, a fleet of 40 foot multi : temperature trucks and vans delivering to sites on a daily basis, many of which are difficult to reach or in dangerous areas!
Over the years the business has developed from food logistics to include the provision of other complex service solutions. They now provide extensive catering operations- both military feeding and commercial catering and have an expanding Retail Division which includes bakeries, coffee shops, hairdressing and beautician salons and PX / Duty Free retail stores which sell groceries, electrical and other duty free items etc. They also have a Site Services Division which provides construction of buildings and offices, general facilities management, fuel management, vehicle and plant maintenance services.
The Role:
Our Client operates a delivered wholesaling operation within the UAE to the catering and hospitality trade servicing hotels and restaurants etc within Dubai, Sharjah etc.
Reporting into the Depot General Manager you will be responsible for the leadership and management of all aspects of the depot warehouse and transport operation in order to ensure that operational and service standards are met, customer relationships maintained and depot budgets achieved : this includes controlling costs in the Operations department within budget set by the Depot General Manager and the Board.
You will manage the warehouse and its stock, employees and vehicles to optimise the distribution service to customers in a cost-effective manner.
Key Tasks will be:
§ Plan the inbound container process such that the warehouse knows the volumes to be receipted each day.
§ Ensure that minimum turn around times are achieved on all inbound transport.
§ Ensure all received goods are labelled, put away in the correct storage location and the appropriate inventory system updated in a timely and accurate manner.
§ Ensure regular quality checks are performed.
§ Monitor and review working practices to ensure compliance with SOP?s, and provide recommendations to improve SOP?s.
§ Ensure all support programs i.e: Cleaning, Temperatures, etc are maintained as per SOP?s.
§ Maintain security of stock and ensure accurate stock management in line with divisional procedures.
§ To guide and motivate warehouse, transport and maintenance staff.
§ Implement and manage a preventative maintenance schedule for Warehouse and Depot equipment and infrastructure in conjunction with the Warehouse and Equipment Managers which is in line with company procedures.
§ Ensure that goods transport is utilised efficiently and effectively and that serviceability of transport is suitable to minimize the risk of breakdowns/accidents.
§ Ensure that delivery schedule is maintained and in a timely manner to all customers.
§ Control /plan and record all training of warehouse staff.
§ Ensure all new employees are taken through an induction brief.
§ Ensure that Warehouse and its staff are compliant with HACCP and apply good warehouse principles
§ Ensure warehouse equipment is maintained in line with company procedures.
§ Ensure all non-conformances are reported to the DGM immediately and a formal report including supporting documentation is promptly written to minimise the company?s risk.

Knowledge and Skills:
To meet this challenge, you will ideally be an ambitious, graduate calibre professional with experience gained in transport, warehousing and inventory management ideally in a multi :drop fmcg environment.
Commercially astute with outstanding leadership ability and a strong customer focus, you will have the confidence to win credibility and make an immediate contribution.
You should be familiar with computer based stock and WMS systems and ideally proficient in Excel.
You should possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.
You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
