The Role:

Within their Multi Temperature Division, our Client is seeking a Nightshift Warehouse Manager at their sales and distribution centre situated in Oxfordshire.

Reporting into the Operations Manager and assisted by 3 Supervisors this is an outstanding opportunity to manage the total nightshift operation and play a key part in running a smooth, efficient and customer focused operation : because that?s what our client is running at this site. The role involves the managing of the Nightshift which consists of a team of 27 staff operating a shift from 6pm until finish. Your hours of work will commence at 5pm.

The main responsibilities are managing the replenishment, picking and loading activities, staff allocation and utilisation, staff recruitment and development, managing health and safety and security issues and the enhancement of customer service standards.

As part of those responsibilities you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the employees? performance including the completion of annual appraisals, appraisal reviews and attendance. You will provide and complete all necessary training and ensure that this is documented and adhered to in line with the company?s requirements and procedures. You will be responsible for the control of the nightshift department?s cost control, analysing reports and accounts and taking corrective action when necessary.

As in any successful management position the development and motivation of the team around you is essential, as is the ongoing strengthening of customer relationships.

Knowledge and Skills:

To succeed, you should have warehouse management experience within a fast moving wholesaling environment, ideally gained within the foodservice sector.

Demonstrating exceptional leadership, communication and motivational skills, you will be responsible for the planning and organizing of all nightshift warehouse activities and managing all nightshift warehouse staff.

You should have a demonstrable record of warehouse experience, coupled with a sound grasp of current practice and H&S legislation.

Excellent communication and inter-personal skills are essential and you must have the strength of character required for being the senior manager on site at night, yet, be approachable and visible.

You should be self-motivated, someone who can inspire others with the ability to continually identify process improvement opportunities.

You will combine ambition with a flexible outlook and have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities.

Finally you should have the necessary inter-personal skills to effectively work as part of a depot management team.
