We currently have 3 vacant positions for experienced insurance handlers to join our Bedford based Independent Broker. This is a great opportunity for hard working, passionate individuals who enjoy selling quality insurance products to a large customer database. Our client may look at high quality candidates without prior insurance experience but the starting salary will reflect this.
In short we?re looking for candidates to offer a complete Personal Lines insurance service to existing and potential new customers. This will involve providing quotations on all types of Personal Lines insurance via the telephone, face to face, internet or in writing and placing cover when instructed. You will also be fully capable of cross selling our clients other products and services in order to fully maximise the premium income of their existing customer base.

Key Role and responsibilities:

? Provide new business quotations for all classes of Personal Lines insurance on request, issuing relevant advice, information and guidance.
? Take instructions from new clients, ensuring cover commences at the correct time, all relevant paperwork is completed, premium is collected and relevant records and diary entries are created on computer system.
? Develop cross selling opportunities within existing client base.
? Outbound calling to exploit new business opportunities.
? Maintain Company minimum broker fee structure and meet departmental targets.
? Maximise further business activities.
? Check thoroughly all client documentation before despatch, ensuring queries are resolved and amendments completed.
? Control your own diary system, ensuring all items are followed up by the due dates, particularly in relation to outstanding documentation from clients or Insurers, premium payments and continuation cover notes.
? Provide risk advice/risk management/risk prevention information to customers, in conjunction with Underwriters, as appropriate.
? Contribute towards the development of a high Company image of professionalism, competence and customer satisfaction.

Desired knowledge:

? Financial Services Authority Insurance Code of Business Rules.
? The principles, practices and legalities of all major classes of General Insurance and in particular, insurable interest, utmost good faith, indemnity, contribution, average and subrogation.
? The range of Personal Lines products offered by the Company and the handling procedures for each of them.
? The Misys computer system, procedures and authority : including EDI.
? The Company?s Complaints Procedure.
? Relevant sections of the Road Traffic Acts.
? Rehabilitation of Offenders, Disability Discrimination and Race Relations Acts.
? The Data Protection Act.
? Credit Schemes offered.
? The general functions of all other areas of the Company and how these relate to this role.
? Misys computer system.
