Head of HR Poole.

CIPD qualified Head of HR required for our client based in Poole.

As the Head of HR you will be working as a member of the senior management team, to develop and implement a comprehensive human resources policy covering such areas as recruitment, training, career development, internal communications, union negotiations, health and safety, occupational health and welfare, equality and diversity.

Main responsibilities

To advise on the company?s ongoing recruitment, HR and training policy for staff within the organisation
Working with the CEO, management staffs, section leaders and other players to build sustain and nurture a team of outstanding musicians.
To liaise with the CEO, line managers and administrative staff in order to facilitate the long- term career development, welfare and performance management of the clients administrative staff
With the CEO, members of the management team and section leaders, to devise and implement an ongoing performance management and development system for the staff
To oversee and facilitate the longer-term career development, welfare and occupational health of the staff, in particular the implementation of good practice and procedures in the areas of noise at work, playing-related injuries and sickness absence.
To offer HR support and services to all line managers within the organisation
To be involved with the CEO in the company?s negotiations the Musicians? Union on player?s terms and conditions and with player?s representatives and line management on local contractual and personnel issues.
To be responsible for Health and Safety issues as they effect the organisation and to work with the companies General Administrator on H & S administrative support and the companies retained Health & Safety consultant.
To be fully informed on legislation governing Health & Safety at work and to advise the company on the implementation of best practice in this regard
To develop and implement a comprehensive Diversity Strategy and action plan for the organisation.
To provide and co-ordinate internal communication procedures within the organisation
To prepare regular HR statistics and Health and Safety reports for the organisations Board of Directors and to attend board meetings as required.
To attend meetings of the senior management team and generally to contribute to the management of the organisation at a senior level.
To represent the CEO and the organisation as required, both internally and externally, and to be a visible ambassador for the company within the it?s sector and with other stakeholders in the organisations home region and further afield.

Person specification

You will be CIPD qualified
You will have demonstrable HR experience at a comparable management level
You will have excellent people and communication skills
You will have advanced formal and informal negotiating skills and ideally experience of collective negotiating with trade unions.
You will have experience of managing and monitoring budgets and possess the financial skills appropriate to a job at this level
You will be a creative individual with good ideas and an ability to put them into practice.
You will be able to inspire colleagues and lead teams
You will be a hard worker with an ability to perform well under pressure
Ideally you will have experience in an HR role within a major arts organisation and possess a keen an understanding of the particular HR needs of such an organisation
A specific knowledge of the orchestral sector would be a distinct advantage
