Our Client is a subsidiary of a leading global provider of design, engineering, program management, construction management, and operations and maintenance support.
They provide facilities management support to the International Peacekeeping Force which operates in the Sinai, Egypt.

They are currently seeking a Chief Fire Officer to be based at the North Camp located in the North of the Sinai close to the Mediterranean coast.



Reporting into the Program Manager the successful candidate will plan, direct and coordinate all fire and safety inspections, prevention, suppression and training requirements for both structural and aircraft fire, crash and rescue in accordance with our clients project procedures and their clients policies, regulations and instructions.

The job holder will attend and take command of all fires, accidents or other safety emergencies when on duty or when requested by a subordinate Fire Officer or Crew Chief.

You will maintain operational, maintenance and training records including but not limited to property inventories, personnel, call-outs, inspections, preventive maintenance, investigations and fire extinguisher records.

You will ensure that all fire fighting equipment is maintained in a high state of readiness, prepare and submit routine reports as required by the Contract or as instructed by the end client.

You will supervise the activities of expatriate Fire Officers and assigned EN fire fighting personnel, confer regularly with both Station Officers to ensure that equipment requirements, training methods, materials and activities are common to both stations wherever possible and to maintain and/or propose revisions to the approved Fire Prevention, Safety Inspection and Firefighter Training programs and relevant project procedures.

You will implement the Fire Prevention program and enforce our clients fire prevention and protection regulations and recommend corrective or remedial action through the chain of command based upon inspections or investigations.

You will encourage the development of leadership and professional skills of assigned fire fighting personnel through appropriate training, instruction, practical drills, physical fitness training and team building exercises.

You will conduct fire safety training for civilian and military personnel as required and will represent our client on fire and safety related committees and meetings.

You will liaise with military Staff Officers on any proposed changes to fire prevention and protection program, training, equipment, policy and regulations.

You will direct all assigned fire fighting in performing required activities in accordance with relevant NFPA or equivalent UK standards or Generally Accepted Industry and Professional Standards and you will train Egyptian National personnel in accomplishing work in accordance with the approved On-Job-Training program.

Knowledge and Skills:

To meet this unique challenge you will be an accomplished Fire Officer having gained your experience in either a local authority, civil aviation or a military fire service with experience at Station Officer/Senior NCO level.
You must have fire prevention experience and be familiar with NFPA or UK recognized safety and fire regulations and must hold and maintain a current a valid HGV III driving license or equivalent.

Your practical experience should be supported by US High School / UK Secondary School graduate or military/fire service equivalent. You must have held at least Sub Officer (civil) or NCO (military) rank and membership of a recognized professional Fire Prevention or Industrial Safety Organization is highly desirable.

You should be a confident communicator with the ability to supervise, motivate, coach and train a team of Egyptian nationals. You will be flexible, possess initiative and able to pick things up quickly.

Experience of working in a military environment or for an international facilities management services provider and other similar organisations would be ideal, as would experience of working in remote sites or in other arduous environments.

Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions. Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence.

This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Fire Officer looking for something different.

The basic salary is paid in the currency of your citizenship and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee.

An 18 month unaccompanied status contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, life assurance, disability insurance and meals. In addition employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.

The R and R entitlement is 38 days over the 18 month contra
