Personnal details

Provide your permanent address, your number and your email at the top of your resume. Do not forget to include your nationality and your date of birth. However do not write your age.

Profile

This is the first part of your English curriculum vitae, in which you can summarize your skills and experience. It should be not to long and very precise to catch the employer attention. Ideally, it should not be more than two short paragraphs.

Work experience in an English CV

This part must be written in reverse chronological order for an English CV. List the dates, the name of the company and its location. You should describe your responsibilities and your achievements for each job you did.

Educational background

If you are still studying you should put this part of your CV before your work experience. Put your higher qualification first and include major projects, training courses. Be sure you correctly explain any non-English degree or qualification.

Skills

Computing skills, language skills and any other qualification you may have can be mentioned. Do not forget to describe your English level. For instance, it can be''fluent'' if you do not have problems to communicated with native speakers or your English may be qualified as ''conversational'', if you can be understand but do grammar or vocabulary mistakes.

Personal interests

This is not necessary to include this section in an English CV but it would help the employer to determine how your personality is. This section should not be too detailed, so write only relevant things that could be linked to the job you are applying for.

Referees

Use three or four referees as a maximum and make sure you provide all the details concerning the company and the manager of your former jobs.

Chronological CV

This is the most common format for an English CV. Your work experience has to be presented in reverse chronological order, from the most recent job to the most former.

Targeted CV

This CV focuses on a specialized job. Consequently, you should eliminate all the qualifications which are not relevant or necessary for the job you are applying for.

The good format

Your CV should not be too long, no more than two pages. All the parts of you CV should be clearly presented.
Your CV should look attractive and easy to read. Correct spelling and grammar are very important, then make your resume checked by an English person.

The good content

Finally, do avoid negative descriptions. The curriculum vitae is a means to sell yourself, not to discourage the employer.
