TECHNICAL DIRECTOR - GAS APPLIANCES - ESSEX
To c.£65,000 base, plus £810 per month car allowance or fully expensed car, 20% bonus, benefits and relocation assistance
Our client is a producer of gas fuelled water heating appliances and boilers for both residential and commercial uses in central heating systems and other applications.
This long established business has a strong brand which is well known and has an excellent reputation for product quality and customer service. Products are manufactured at company owned sites in the UK and sourced from abroad and sold both in the UK and internationally through builders? merchants, distributors, installers etc.
Until a short time ago the business was a medium sized independent player in its market place. Recently it was acquired by a large international manufacturing group which recognised the underlying strength of the product quality, customer service ethos and long standing excellent reputation of this business. The new owner is now investing in the company with the intention of winning market share and turning the business into a major player in the UK.
This ambition will involve investment in the technical strength of the business and a Technical Director is required to lead the technical team and these developments. The team consists of over 20 people involved in a variety of roles.
The key driver of the role is to ensure that the company develops a competitive suite of market relevant products which will position the company as a leading player in the UK gas market place during the next five years. The company has strength to meet the technical challenge, but, as the future mission will place greater emphasis on the production of new products, it is important that the new Director has development experience.
The technical and development challenge is made more significant by the increasing government regulation of gas products driven by health and safety concerns and the increasing obligation on everyone to reduce carbon emissions. Technical and design leadership will be required from the Technical Director in this area.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manager to join a business at board level and make a significant impact in a stable company undergoing change. It is also a good opportunity for a present departmental No 2 to be promoted to a board role and spread his / her wings putting both themselves and the business more fully on the map. The role will carry a great deal of autonomy and has the opportunity to contribute to strategy at board level. The position, along with the rest of the board, will report to the Chief Executive. Candidates will have experience of gas applications or a related area.
