Background
The East West Interconnector Project is a major infrastructure project creating a new 500 plus MW link between the Irish and British electricity systems and their respective markets. This Interconnector Project is included in the National Development Plan as an initiative of critical strategic importance and is recognised as a priority Interconnector project by the European Commission.
Job Description
We now have a requirement for an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialist to join the team. The successful applicant will contribute to the achievement of project deliverables and input to decision making. Travel to Britain will be a requirement for the successful candidate to meet and engage with advisors and the relevant authorities.
Job Relationships
Reporting to the East West Inter Connector Project Manager
Main Responsibilities
? To work with the project team to co-ordinate and produce the Project EIA.
? Co-ordinate marine and land based EIAs to ensure overall Project EIA is consistent and compatible.
? Identification of environmental constraints : fieldwork and data collection.
? Writing detailed feasibility studies, environmental reviews and environmental statements.
? Providing advice on environmental issues.
? Assisting with production of tender requests.
? Co-ordinate external consultant work in Ireland and the UK where necessary
? Input into development of effective mitigation strategies, including budgetary inputs.
? Working with regulators and liaising with various stakeholders.
? Input to decision making generally as a member of the team.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
? Degree level qualified in a relevant discipline.
? At least 4+ years relevant post qualification experience (Ireland and International)
? Previous experience of scoping EIAs for complex major infrastructure projects.
? Knowledge of project management
? Ability to work effectively as part of a team
? Self starter/high energy levels
? Good communication skills
? Demonstrated role flexibility.
Desirable
? Experience in power sector
? Experience of Welsh/British Planning
? MSc qualified in Environmental Impact Assessment or related subject.
? Member of IEMA.
? Previous project management experience
? Full driving licence
