We are seeking a sales oriented General Manager to take charge of an electrical components distributorship in the Birmingham area supplying customers on a national basis. You will be operating within a stand alone profit centre and control all aspects of the P&L.

Our client is a major electrical components distribution company with a turnover of £70M and consists of separate regional businesses throughout the UK. It is part of a major UK group. The structure is flat and the overhead is small.

The Birmingham business is very successful and has shown steady year on year growth in turnover and profits. The business presently has a turnover of nearly £3.0 million, employs 10 people and delivers a healthy bottom line. The business provides products for larger industrial end-users (such as circuit board manufacturers, panel builders etc) and distributors in the building services sector. It also markets to key influencers such as architects, mechanical contractors and systems houses which may influence purchasing patterns. Components supplied are from known brands such as Siemens, Satchwell, Mitsubishi, ABB etc.

The General Manager position is autonomous and P&L accountable controlling all functions including sales, distribution, stock, purchasing, customer services etc. Opportunities for the business lie in broadening the product range and consolidating an added value position with key customers. This is essentially a sales and relationship building role with a general management remit.

General Managers are rewarded with an uncapped share in the success of their operations, industry experience would be a benefit but is not a requirement.

We are an Employment Business and an Employment Agency as defined within The Conduct of Employment Agencies & Employment Businesses Regulations 2003
