Our Client is a multi- national food logistics and facilities provider and operates a commercial bakery in Kabul, Afghanistan supplying restaurants and military kitchens of countries who are participating in ISAF, the multi-national peacekeeping force in Afghanistan.

They are currently seeking an accomplished Pastry Cook for the bakery in Kabul who is ideally able to speak English fluently in addition to their own native language.

The role includes the making and baking of a variety of pastry products e.g. Danish pastries, Viennese etc etc.

Knowledge and Skills:

You should be an energetic and accomplished English speaking Pastry Chef.

Experience of working in a retail bakery operation, contracted catering services, in a military environment or for a leading international facilities management provider would be ideal, as would experience of working in post conflict areas, remote sites, on oil rigs or in other arduous environments.

You will have an excellent understanding of commercial bakery operations and specifically a high degree of knowledge on food hygiene including HACCP, food handling and food presentation concepts and knowledge of popular catering and bakery products.

Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.

This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Pastry Cook looking for something different. Whilst our Clients operation is somewhat unique they are in it for the long term and accordingly they seek a career minded Pastry Cook and are looking for a minimum of 12 to 18 months commitment.

The basic salary is paid in US Dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is a bonus payable after 12 months service which is paid annually and is also paid in US Dollars and tax free to an Ex-Patriate employee.

Accommodation, laundry, local transport and meals are provided free. In addition employees have access to the use of a phone to call family and friends and also the internet for e-mails etc.

Ex-Patriate employees will receive 40 days annual leave per year and will receive 1 paid return economy flight in the first year and 2 paid return economy flights in their second year and thereafter. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
