Our Client is a multi- national food logistics and facilities provider.

Over the years the business has developed from food logistics to include the provision of complex service solutions. They now provide catering operations, both military feeding and commercial catering and operate commercial bakeries.

Our client is currently seeking an accomplished Head Baker to work at their large bakery in Kabul, Afghanistan who is ideally able to speak at least one European language fluently in addition to English.

The role:

This is a hand on role working closely with the Bakery Manager.

The successful candidate will set high standards of baking in the day to day running of the operation and will ensure areas of responsibility meet the approved organisation quality audits.

You will implement and monitor our client?s hygiene and sanitation procedures and will organise and record food safety and health and safety training for all staff.

You will prepare and receive weekly provisions in line with budgets and will ensure bakery products are ready on time and presented to our client?s standards.

You will assist with the weekly rosters planning including leave plots ensuring all staff have their entitled time off and leave ensuring the operational needs are met and will ensure all security procedures are adhered to.

In addition you will recommend and discuss with the Bakery Manager any improvements to systems and procedures which may be beneficial to our clients operations.

Knowledge and Skills:

You should be an energetic and accomplished English speaking Baker who can ideally speak fluently at least one other European language. You should be highly self motivated with the ability to communicate and motivate a varied team. You should have experience of managing / supervising a bakery operation.

Experience of working in a retail bakery operation, contracted catering services, in a military environment or for a leading international facilities management provider would be ideal, as would experience of working in post conflict areas, remote sites, on oil rigs or in other arduous environments.

You will have an excellent understanding of commercial bakery operations and specifically a high degree of knowledge on food hygiene including HACCP, food handling and food presentation concepts and knowledge of popular catering and bakery products.

Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and one other European language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.

You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.

Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be IT / PC literate.

This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Baker looking for something different. Whilst our Clients operation is somewhat unique they are in it for the long term and accordingly they seek a career minded Baker and are looking for a minimum of 12 to 18 months commitment.

The basic salary is paid in Euros and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is a bonus payable after 12 months service which is paid annually and is also paid in Euros and tax free to an Ex-Patriate employee.

Accommodation, laundry, local transport, health insurance and meals are provided free. In addition employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also the internet for e-mails etc.

Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 63 days annual leave per year and the working rota is:

14 weeks on - 3.5 weeks off
14 weeks on - 3.5 weeks off
13.5 weeks on : 3.5 weeks off

Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 3 paid return economy flights per year and Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
