Our Client is a multi- national food logistics and facilities provider.

Over the years the business has developed from food logistics to include the provision of complex service solutions. They now provide catering operations, both military feeding and commercial catering and operate commercial bakeries.

Our client is currently seeking an accomplished Bakery Production Manager to work at their large bakery in Kabul, Afghanistan who is ideally able to speak at least one European language fluently in addition to English.

The role:

The role involves shift management operational responsibility for our clients state of the art industrial bakery producing bread, rolls and pastry products for 40.000 people daily. The successful candidate will manage the shift bakery operations in order to meeting agreed daily production targets and agreed performance standards.
You will manage inventory levels of all raw materials and supplies in order to meet customer requirements and maximize profits and operational efficiency.
You will schedule employee working hours and effectively use staff resources and supplies to meet production targets.
You will prepare, maintain, and track records concerning raw material inventories, bakery output, and work processes to calculate gross monthly profit according to Company policy.
You will direct, oversee, and evaluate staff and determine training needed by bakery employees and will maintain a safe and clean environment to ensure our clients health and safety and quality requirements are met.
You will manage planned preventive maintenance (PPM) programme for all bakery equipment to the extent necessary to minimize downtime and maintain production targets.
You will set high standards of baking in the day to day running of the operation and will ensure bakery products are ready on time and presented to our client?s standards.
You will ensure areas of responsibility meet the approved organisation quality audits and will organise and record food safety and health and safety training for all staff.

Knowledge and Skills:

You should be an energetic and accomplished English speaking Bakery Production Manager. You should be highly self motivated with the ability to communicate and motivate a varied team. You should have experience of managing a modern bakery and your experience should be supported by vocational bakery qualifications and preferably a food safety qualification.

Experience of working in a retail bakery operation, contracted catering services, in a military environment or for a leading international facilities management provider would be ideal, as would experience of working in post conflict areas, remote sites or in other arduous environments.

You will have an excellent understanding of commercial bakery production operations and specifically a high degree of knowledge on food hygiene including HACCP, food handling and food presentation concepts and knowledge of popular catering and bakery products.

Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.

You should possess excellent communication skills in English and one other European language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.

Finally you should possess a Drivers Licence and be IT / PC literate.

This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Bakery Production Manager looking for something different. Whilst our Clients operation is somewhat unique they are in it for the long term and accordingly they seek a career minded Bakery Production Manager and are looking for a minimum of 12 to 18 months commitment.

The basic salary is paid in Euros and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. In addition there is an annual profit share bonus payable after 12 months service which is also paid in Euros and tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. Accommodation, laundry, local transport, health insurance and meals are provided free. In addition you will have the use of a phone to call family and friends and also the internet for e-mails etc.

Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 63 days annual leave per year and the working rota is approximately 14 weeks on, 3.5 weeks off

In addition Western Ex-Patriate employees will receive 3 paid return economy flights per year. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are also paid for by our client.
