The Software Engineer will join the development team to specify, design, code, test and integrate software for a suite of facilities available through C# .NET web sites. You will work on projects covering requirements definition, development, test and support of new and existing products.

The purpose of the role initially will be to concentrate within the development/testing phases of development but then develop into all areas of the development lifecycle and exposure to a diverse range of application types e.g. web applications, portals, back office processing, mathematical analyses and engineering applications.


OUTLINE OF ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

?Perform a broad range of work, sometimes complex and non-routine, in a variety of environments
?Identify and resolve complex problems and assignments
?Report progress at regular milestones/intervals
?Determine when problems should be escalated to a higher level
?Interact and positively influence department and team members
?Interact with external contacts, customer and suppliers

?Use appropriate testing methods, tools and applications

?Any other duties as may reasonably be required


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
?Software related degree - ideally 2:1 minimum
?C# with .NET v1 or v2 - minimum of 4 years experience
?Experience with ASP.NET and an understanding of Web Services
?SQL Server experience including SQL and Stored Procedures
?Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) or strong SQL Server Development / DBA experience is desirable
?Experience (ideally commercially) of software design (e.g. OO and UML)
?Other languages and technologies to demonstrate broader experience would be an advantage
?Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
?Strong team working skills
?Experience of coaching and mentoring others or leading a team
?Project management skills : requirements capture, customer liaison, full lifecycle knowledge, all through following formal procedures
?Java / J2EE knowledge and experience would be useful
