Our client is a leading international aerospace manufacturing company, they are seeking a software developer to join them

Duties / Responsibilities:
A Software Developer with expertise in design, development, and integration of real-time embedded software projects. Conducts software development activities. Develops, documents, tests, and debugs application software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve question of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.

The Software Developer will be responsible for design, development and unit test of elements of software. This will include:

oPlanning and control of own work.
oHigh level and detailed design using object oriented methodologies and a UML toolset (Artisan Studio)
oCode development in ADA 95 (using Greenhill?s AdaMulti)
oUnit testing (using LDRA)
oPresentation of design at internal and independent design reviews
oSupport to customer demonstrations and user workshops
oAssignment to other teams may be required

Reports to: Software Development Manager, and Software Developer Team Lead

The position requires complete understanding and wide application of the Software Engineering principles and practices and a general knowledge of Systems engineering and Test & Integration and Validation disciplines.

Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls.

The Software Developer will be expected to provide status to their team lead / management regularly. The position will generally be on-site at Lockheed Martin and working within a Lockheed Martin development team, however there will be occasional liaison with users and system engineers, as well as briefing to other team members, leads and software and project management.

The Software Developer will be required to communicate effectively through E-mail & verbal with all these groups. The candidate will be expected to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and show a degree of flexibility in working hours when required to meet project milestones.

The position is key to ensuring performance on a critical element of a major programme, and will have a direct contribution to the success of the programme from both the customer?s and company?s perspective. The position will include responsibility for team performance across a medium sized segment of the development activity.

Essential Skills:

Demonstrable experience of Software Development within a ?real time? System.
Demonstrable experience of adherence to process within a Software development environment.
Be familiar with object oriented design methodologies and UML. Familiarity with the use of Artisan Studio is desirable.
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and work well in a team environment.
Experience of Configuration Management Systems within a Software Development environment.

Desirable Skills:

Experience to some of the following would be desirable:

Development in ADA95
Experience with iData or equivalent (i.e. VAPS)
Development with CORBA
