Senior Tax Manager/ Director - Shepton Mallet - £Excellent plus a highly competitive bonus/benefits scheme

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious tax manager/director to have an influential role at a leading West Country accountancy firm. Joining as a Senior Manager / Director based in either Exeter, Shepton Mallet or Yeovil, you will be part of an evolving, progressive Tax Planning team. Tax planning will be at the forefront of your role working with both your own client portfolio and dealing with technical tax issues for clients of partners and other staff.

Ideally, you will have a strong private client and/or trust background. You will need to have in depth technical knowledge and wide practical experience, along with the ability to think creatively offering your clients wide-ranging solutions and advice. Expertise in a specialist area such as Trusts would be an advantage.

You will need to show a track record delivering excellence to your clients, and be committed to developing your own career and that of those around you. You will manage your own portfolio and be actively representing the practice in the local business community whilst developing new business opportunities.

Key duties include:

1. Providing tax solutions through knowledge of UK and international tax so clients can manage their tax affairs in the most effective way.
2. Corresponding and negotiating with appropriate tax authorities.
3. Building and managing junior team members, supervising and reviewing work, coaching and developing the team
4. Managing and growing a portfolio.

Qualifications and skills:

* CTA and/or ACA/ACCA qualified or qualified by experience
* Proven experience of building successful business relationships
* Up to date accounting and tax knowledge
* Pro-active communication style with drive & energetic approach to your career
* Excellent standard of written and verbal communication with ability to liaise with people at all levels
* Excellent client handling and interpersonal skills
* High motivation, self starter
* Ability to spot and maximise opportunities (both tax and commercial)
