Finance Officer - London Salary £24,500
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Finance officer to fill this position.
Objectives
To ensure the smooth running of their financial and office systems in the International Support Office and provide support to the business?s offices and staff internationally
Main Duties
? To be responsible for all aspects of book-keeping, bank reconciliation, petty cash, payment of invoices and paying in of monies received, processing income, and Inland Revenue dealings.
? To maintain, update and run the monthly payroll of payments to staff and the Inland Revenue.
? To support the Finance Manager and Company Secretary and Auditor in the fulfilment of statutory financial duties, including annual audit of accounts and their submission to statutory bodies.
? To liaise with the bank regarding cheque signatories, mandates, ICW credit cards and other banking issues, including international banking/transfer issues.
? To provide accounting support, together with the Finance Manager, to the business?s staff necessary for good budget monitoring, financial management of project budgets and timely and accurate financial reporting to donors.
? To ensure timely and accurate transfer of funds to international staff, and to develop and communicate to all staff the correct procedures for this.
? To ensure that new staff receive an induction in the business finance procedures including the Financial Regulations, requisition procedures, petty cash and other payments.
? To co-ordinate the facility aspects of the London office including contracts and leases, maintaining an assets register, equipment servicing and organising office supplies.
? To develop and maintain good, accessible office filing systems, both manual and computerised, relating to the role.
? To assist the Finance Manager and Company Secretary with the filing of Trustee minutes and papers, statutory returns, etc.
? To answer incoming telephone calls.
? To be responsible for own day-to-day administrative tasks.
? To undertake other duties as agreed with the line manager.
Essential criteria
? Two years experience in a financial role, preferably in a charitable organisation.
? Good knowledge and experience of finance computer systems, including Quick Books.
? Experience of running payroll
? Qualifications and/or experience of book-keeping and other basic financial management procedures
? Experience of supporting audits and working with auditors
? Good organisational skills, the ability to prioritise and to meet deadlines
? Accuracy and attention to detail
? Good interpersonal skills including a good telephone manner
? The ability to work as part of a team and to support non-finance staff in financial responsibilities
? IT skills (e-mail, Word and spreadsheets (Excel))
Desirable criteria
? Part qualified or studying for accountancy qualification
? Experience of international transfers and dealing with the international banking system
? Understanding of donor agency requirements
? Ability to work effectively across geographical, cultural and language differences.
